Port Hope and District Architectural Conservancy was established in 1949 and became the Port Hope Branch of the Architectural Conservancy of Ontario in 1964. The Architectural Conservancy of Ontario, founded in 1933, is committed to the preservation of the architectural and natural heritage of the province. It emphasizes the importance of the historical association of properties in connection with the development of a community.

The Quinte Branch of the Architectural Conservancy of Ontario was established in 1983 to buy the c.1817 McIntosh-Ridley House on South Front Street in Belleville, Ontario. The founding executive members were: Roy Turner, Rodger Greig, Tom Cruickshank, Alex Herlovitch and Heather McClune. The branch organizes architectural walking tours and talks about historic buildings in the Quinte Region.

The Archives Association of Ontario was established in 1993 as a result of the amalgamation of the Ontario Association of Archivists and the Ontario Council of Archives.

As the professional association representing both archival institutions and archivists in Ontario, the Archives Association of Ontario provides professional advisory services, administers federal grants, and provides continuing education opportunities.

Prévue depuis la grande restructuration de l’Université en 1965, la création des Archives de l’Université d’Ottawa se concrétise en 1967. En effet, le Comité exécutif du Bureau des gouverneurs nomme, entre autres, le premier archiviste de l’institution, Paul Dumas, dont le mandat débute le premier juillet 1967 (résolution 67.51). Le mandat des Archives est d’offrir aux autres unités de l’Université un service de gestion des documents, entreposant des documents semi-actifs et de valeurs permanentes provenant des différentes unités administratives et scolaires. Les Archives ont aussi le mandat d’assurer la promotion de l’histoire et du patrimoine de l’Université d’Ottawa, facilitant l’accès aux données historiques qui concernent l’institution.

Even though this had been planned since the great reorganization of the University, in 1965, the Archives of the University of Ottawa are created in 1967. Indeed, resolution 67.51 of the Executive Committee of the Board of Governors appoints the institutions first archivist, Paul Dumas, whose term begins on July first 1967. The role of the Archives is to provide a records management service to the University’s other administrative and academic units. The Archives store and manage semi-active records as well as records of permanent value. Also, the Archives are charged with promoting the history of the University of Ottawa, providing researchers with easy access to historical data concerning the institution.

The Archivo General de Centro America (General Archive of Central America) was founded in Guatemala City, Guatemala to hold the government records of this region. The Archive contains records which were deteriorating from the effects of moisture and insects. In 1970, at the urging of Dr. John Browning, then Associate Professor of Spanish at McMaster University, University Librarian William Ready, along with Business Manager Arthur Lawrence visited Guatemala. A contract was signed allowing the archives to be microfilmed for scholarly studies.

Person

Bertram Holford Ardagh was born in Barrie, Ontario, possibly in the year 1869. He was admitted to Osgoode Hall Law School in 1890 and was called to the Bar in 1895. He practiced in Gravenhurst and Midland before moving to Toronto in 1902, where he practiced with the firm of Raymond, Ardagh and Honsberger. During the First World War, Ardagh served as Captain of the Osgoode Hall Rifle Association and was a Major with the 124th Battalion. Ardagh was appointed Secretary of the Law Society of Upper Canada in 1922, a position he held until his death on 31 October 1933.

Arden Pastoral Charge (Ont.)

Arden Pastoral Charge was formed in 1925 from the Arden Methodist Circuit. Mountain Grove Pastoral Charge was formed in 1925 from the Mountain Grove Methodist Circuit. Arden and Mountain Grove Pastoral Charge was formed in 1930 when Arden from Arden Pastoral Charge joined Mountain Grove and Long Lake from Mountain Grove Pastoral Charge; it included Arden, Mountain Grove, Elm Tree and Henderson. In 1967, it changed it's name back to Arden Pastoral Charge, but still includes Mountain Grove and Henderson.

The first area training centre was established at Meaford, Ontario in 1995. The purpose of the training centre is to provide both the physical and administrative framework for a cohesive approach to training within the armed forces. At the time the 1987 "White Paper" on National Defence officially launched the "total force" concept within the Canadian Armed Forces. One of the components of this concept involved increasing the operational capacity of the militia by establishing four Militia Training and Support Centres (MTSC).

Argyle Presbyterian Church was organized in 1861 by the Rev. Neil McKinnon, a church building was opened that same year. Rev. McKinnon served the congregation until 1871. The church was a part of the Church of Scotland until the union of Canadian Presbyterians in 1875. Around the year 1900, the congregation of Crinan was united in a joint charge with the newly formed church at West Lorne. During the time of Church Union in 1925, Argyle chose to remain with The Presbyterian Church in Canada. The charges were rearranged and Argyle was linked with Duff’s Church, Largie. Knox Presbyterian Church (West Lorne, Ont.) (est. 1925) amalgamated with Argyle on September 30, 2000.
