Name of creator
University of Ottawa. Support Staff Executive Committee
Administrative history
On July 5, 1965, the Board of Governors established the Committee on Personnel Policy and Welfare to review support staff policy. It became the Advisory Committee on Personnel in 1966. The Committee studied working conditions and fringe benefits. On January 14, 1970, the Administrative Committee established the Support Staff Committee to replace the Advisory Committee on Personnel. In 1974, the Committee was given a new mandate as a standing advisory committee to the Board of Governors. On September 1, 1989, the University and its existing Support Staff Advisory Committee agreed to establish a Support Staff Executive Committee. It provides a channel of communication and consultation between the support staff and the administration of the University; it also makes recommendations concerning fringe benefits and working conditions of the non unionized support staff.
