Administrative history
The Simcoe County Arts and Crafts Association (SCACA) was created in 1945 by Noreen Rive, Rose (Doucette) Robinson, Mary Cuppage and Nora Marshall. Along with the support of Louise Colley, Director of the Recreation Department of Simcoe County an effort to determine the need for such an organization within the County was made. The response was so encouraging that the Board of Education was approached about providing class space for night classes. In the first year more than one hundred people received instruction. In July of 1949 the first Quilt Fair was opened. In 1951 the first County-wide Art Exhibit was held. In 1975 the Simcoe County Museum became the permanent home of the Quilt, Rug and Craft Fair.
