University of Ottawa. Senate Committee on Bilingualism

Administrative history

Established by the Senate on July 11, 1966, the Senate Committee on Bilingualism studied the philosophy and the policy of the University bilingualism. On August 5, 1969, the Committee recommended to the Senate that a task force on bilingualism be established. In the Task Force's report to the Senate on February 1, 1971, several recommendations were made to promote bilingualism at the University. But on September 17, 1973, the Senate established a new Committee to define a policy on bilingualism. A policy on bilingualism was finally approved by the Senate on October 7, 1974, and by the Board of Governors on November 18, 1974.
