John Miller (b.1832) was an Assessor and Collector for South Dumfries Township, Ontario, and served as a director and President of the Brant Mutual Fire Insurance Company.

John Miller was born in Glasgow, Scotland on February 26, 1832 to his father Robert Miller. He came to Canada when he was 10 years old. In 1853 he married Esther Aitkin, daughter of the late Robert Aitken. When she died in 1874 he remarried, to Jane Badinock in 1876. John Miller was an Assessor for South Dumfries Township from 1864 to 1881, when he was appointed Collector, a position he held until the year before his death. He was also a director of the Brant Mutual Fire Insurance Company for forty years, and was President on several occasions. He was also a Grand Lecturer with the Patrons of Industry, and travelled across Ontario lecturing on their behalf.
