        Bertha Ann Merriman (1884-1969) served as a nurse with the Canadian Army Medical Corps during the First World War. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Merriman served as a nurse overseas during the South African War. Following the war she returned to Hamilton to become a school nurse. In October 1915, she rejoined the Army. She served with the Canadian Army Medical Corps in England, Belgium, Lemnos and Salonika, from 1915-1916. Merriman received a South African War Medal, the War Medal 1914-1918, the Victory Medal and the Royal Red Cross. Following the First World War, Merriman returned to Hamilton and married Harold Henson. She died in Hamilton.
