    The Latvian National Federation in Canada (LNAK) was established in Toronto, Ontario in 1950 to encourage Latvian immigration to Canada and to assist Latvian immigrants, as well as to support the cause of Latvian independence from the Soviet Union.

    Scope and content

    Fonds consists of the records created and received by the Latvian National Federation in Canada. Fonds includes the organisation's constitution, resolutions, by-laws, meetings, minutes, annual reports, correspondence, membership files, and bulletins. Also included are records from the following bureaux: Education, Culture, Political Information, Youth, Immigration/Relief, and Economics. Fonds also contains some administrative records of the Latvian Relief Association. In addition, fonds contains audiocassettes of oral histories.
