Biographical history
John Black is Professor Emeritus, Departments of Physics and Biological Sciences, Brock University. Dr. Black is an avid bird watcher and is project co-ordinator, Niagara Region, for the second Ontario Breeding Bird Atlas, which involves finding all breeding birds in a five year span from 2001-2005. He has contributed significantly to the study of bird migration patterns in Niagara using radars.
Custodial history
Fonds remained in the possession of John Black until June, 2002 when it was donated to Special Collections and Archives, James A. Gibson Library, Brock University.
Scope and content
Fonds consists of five studies written by John Black about bird migration at the Port Weller Piers located at the north end of the Welland Canal, St. Catharines, Ontario. The fonds also includes an annotated copy of "Bird Life of Canada's Niagara Frontier" by R.W. Sheppard, April 1970.
