  <description>Fonds consists of material covering the creation and development of the 1971 White Paper on Defence and the Defence Policy Review of the late 1960s and early 1970s.  Throughout these papers, considerable attention is paid to the role of the Dept. of National Defence (DND) and the Canadian Armed Forces in Canada and in Europe, as well as their responsibilities within NATO and NORAD.
Documents include:  typewritten correspondence, memoranda, reports, and studies. Also includes a volume of  &quot;NORAD:  A Index to Hansard References by Subject&quot;, United Nations Emergency Force Information Book, and papers and correspondence on Defence Research and Development.  There are also copies of speeches delivered to academic institutions (Civilian and Military), conferences, and clubs. Finally, there are various photographs of Canadian Forces planes, ships and helicopters.
