Administrative history

High Park-Alhambra United Church, Toronto, was established in 1970 upon the union of High Park Avenue United Church and Alhambra Avenue United Church; the congregation used the High Park Avenue building which was located at 260 High Park Avenue, at the corner of High Park Avenue and Annette Street; the congregation closed in 1996. High Park Avenue United Church, Toronto, was established in 1925; it was located on High Park Avenue at the intersection with Annette Street; formerly High Park Avenue Methodist Church, which in turn was formerly Annette Street Methodist Church (located at Annette Street and High Park Avenue), and originally West Toronto Junction Methodist Mission (located at Quebec Avenue and Annette Street); in 1926, Victoria United Church (also in the High Park area) amalgamated with High Park Avenue United Church; in 1970, High Park Avenue United Church united with Alhambra Avenue United Church to form High Park-Alhambra United Church in the High Park building. Alhambra Avenue United Church, Toronto, was established in 1925; it was located at 1573 Bloor Street West, at the intersection of Bloor and Alhambra Avenue; formerly Alhambra Avenue Presbyterian Church, which had been known as Royce Avenue Presbyterian Church (located at Royce Avenue and Perth Avenue) until the Alhambra building was constructed on Bloor Street in 1909; from 1962 to 1969, Alhambra and Prospect Park United Church operated as a two point pastoral charge known as Alhambra-Prospect Park Pastoral Charge; in 1970 Alhambra Avenue United Church united with High Park Avenue United Church to form High Park-Alhambra United Church in the High Park building. High Park-Alhambra United Church closed in 1996.

Fonds consists of the following series: records, including marriages, 1909-1911, of High Park Avenue Methodist Church, Toronto (includes Annette Street Methodist Church and West Toronto Junction Methodist Mission), 1887-1926; records, including baptisms, 1925-1928, and marriages, 1929-1968, of High Park Avenue United Church (includes High Park Avenue Methodist Church), 1919-1970; records of Royce Avenue Presbyterian Church, 1904-1908; records, including baptisms, 1914-1918, of Alhambra Avenue Presbyterian Church (includes Royce Avenue Presbyterian Church), 1904-1925; records, including baptisms, 1921-1970, marriages, 1946-1963, and burials, 1946-1970, of Alhambra Avenue United Church, 1909-1971; Official Board minutes, 1962-1969, of Alhambra-Prospect Park Pastoral Charge (includes Alhambra Avenue United Church and Prospect Park United Church); and records, including baptisms, 1960-1996, marriages, 1968-1996, and burials, 1980-1996, of High Park-Alhambra United Church (includes High Park Avenue United Church), 1926-1996.
