Records management and collecting policies
The By-Law establishing the Archives states:
The Town of Deseronto Archives will collect all written, pictorial and cartographic material, regardless of date, which contains information which documents the History of the Town of Deseronto.
Material is evaluated on the basis of its research, not monetary value, its strict relevance to the Town of Deseronto and in some cases, whether a more appropriate and accessible institution exists with a policy to compile a comprehensive collection of a particular type of record. (As is the case of the Land Registry Office collection of land indentures, and those churches which have a Central Denominational Archives.)
The Town of Deseronto Archives retains the right to refuse any material which it feels does not contribute to the Collection. Any material accepted will be handled, stored and used according to acceptable archival standards.
